FOR FUCKING REAL? You think I’m “unbalanced” and “probably need help” because I disagree with someone making a rape joke, and other people defending the person who made the rape joke? Making an excuse for someone who doesn’t treat rape seriously is the definition of a rape apologist.

And to you and every fucking dudebro in my Ask saying, “Where does it end? What other jokes can’t we tell? What if I want to tell a joke about (other serious topic)? FREEDOM OF SPEECH?!?!?”: that’s a false fucking equivalency. Rape has been used as a weapon against women, people of color, disabled people, and trans* people throughout history. It is a terrible, violent crime that disproportionately affects marginalized groups. One in four women will be a victim of rape or attempted rape by the time she finishes college. Is it really so fucking much to ask that we stop making jokes about it?

Because that’s all I’m asking. I’m not saying stop making jokes about serial killers or wars or what the fuck ever. I’m asking cis straight white men - the main perpetrators of rape - to stop making jokes about it, and to stop defending people who do. It’s really really really not that much to ask.

So you can cool it with the slippery slope (“Where does it stop???”) and sit the fuck down. If it makes you cranky that I don’t kowtow to the high art of stand-up comedy in all scenarios, I’d actually prefer it if you unfollowed me.
