Today in things that are not true.
Yes, because when you dedicate your life to healing people, you immediately quit over any changes, big or small.
Remember the mass quitting of doctors and other medical staff when medical charts moved to become digital even when the software had a lot of bugs and made things really frustrating? Oh, wait, that didn’t happen.
I don’t think doctors are going to quit over something that will make it EASIER for them to actually treat patients (no more having to risk patient care because of ridiculous insurance requirements), not when they have invested pretty much their entire lives becoming physicians. Being a doctor isn’t just some job you quit, it’s a life-long commitment to caring for people. This is why you don’t see a lot of doctors who’ve quit their jobs working as a waitress or something (not that a waitress’s salary would be able to pay off the student loans from medical school…)
If a bunch of doctors haven’t quit over being forced to give medically unnecessary ultrasounds or transvaginal ultrasounds or treat their patients like children…something tells me that things will be fine.
Also, maybe we could stop fear-mongering and actually talk about the doctor shortage in this country and why THAT is going to be an even MORE pressing problem now that the ACA was upheld and will continue to have more of its policies enacted within the coming years. In order to encourage more people to g to medical school, we should probably also lower those college tuition costs since that’s a very big burden and a very big imposing factor as to who can go to college at all.
Reasons like this are why this election CANNOT JUST be about the economy. Social issues affect the economy, too, it’s not just Wall Street and Banks that control it. A healthier population means a population that won’t need as many sick days. A more educated population means bigger strides in technology and work force.
Love,
Rabble
As I’ve mentioned, I texted my sister (an Ivy League med school student) and asked her what she thought when the SCOTUS upheld the healthcare ruling. I told her about this phenomenon (“No one will want to be a doctor any more!!!”) and she replied, “People who are becoming doctors to get rich are in it for the wrong reasons anyway.”
I don’t know about the rest of y’all, but I’d prefer to see a doctor who works in medicine because they are passionate about helping people, not because they worship at the temple of the almighty dollar.
